Rs 13 lakh American SUV to rival the Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos set the market on fire with its launch in 2019. It was an unknown brand, still, the Seltos pulled in sales as if it had been in the market forever. The Seltos with the Creta holds an iron hold on the C-SUV segment. So which American SUV can take on the Seltos? It is the Jeep Avenger. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Rs 13 lakh American SUV. 

Dimensions and design

The Jeep Avenger is 4080mm in length, 1780mm in width & 1530mm in height. These dimensions put the Avenger in the C-SUV territory. Now let’s talk about design. In the Avenger, Jeep has been successful to integrate its traditional design with modern elements. It gets the traditional Jeep grille with blacked-out headlamps. The side profile looks like a toned-down version of the Compass. At the rear, we have blacked-out tail lamps.

The Avenger revealed in Europe comes with ICE and EV powertrains. Jeep didn’t reveal the exact details, it said that the EV variant could get a range of 400kms on (the WLTP cycle). If it comes to India, it could get the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that powers the C3. Jeep could also give it some kind of motor to increase its efficiency and power figures.  

Features

Jeep will have to load the Avenger with features to take on other established players in this segment. The Avenger will need features like a big infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, automatic AC controls, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof etc. Jeep will need to up its game in the fit & finish aspect to improve its sales. Moreover, this SUV could also get ADAS to take on the competition.

Jeep has always positioned itself as a premium brand in India. However, if it wants to enter the fierce C-SUV segment, it will need to tweak its strategy a bit. Another thing Jeep could do is to bring the EV version and pit it against the MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon EV. This strategy could help Jeep target several segments at once. What about the launch? Jeep could launch the Avenger in India sometime in 2024.
