Kia is reaping the benefits of the strong foundation it laid in the Indian market. Cars like the Carens and Sonet are raking in good sales for the brand, but its top-seller continues to be the Seltos. The Seltos has been in the market for three years but still doesn’t look outdated due to its sharp design and features. Nevertheless, Kia is bringing the facelifted Seltos to India. There has been some new probable information regarding the launch of the Kia Seltos in 2023. In today’s article, let’s talk about that.

New development?

Kia Seltos 2023

Kia has already unveiled the Seltos facelift in South Korea. So there has been some hype regarding its launch in the Indian market. The car was also spotted in India, adding fuel to the fire. Earlier, it was speculated that Kia might launch the car at the Auto Expo of 2023, however, we have to take into account the upcoming BS6 Stage-2 norms in April 2023. With these new norms, the cost of diesel engines could go up significantly. Kia would thus want to wait for these norms to come into effect and then launch the facelifted Seltos to justify the price hike with new design & features. Kia could just unveil the car at the Auto Expo and might launch it later, sometime after April 2023.

With this being said, this is just a possibility and Kia might launch the Seltos facelift sooner too.

Updates?

The Seltos facelift gets several new aspects. The first one being new headlamps with an updated DRL design. Other than that, we have new bumpers, new alloy wheels and more prominent faux skid plates. At the rear, we have new inverted LED tail lamps. What about the interiors? The Seltos now gets a single-piece curved display integrating the infotainment system and the instrument cluster. Kia has also added more soft-touch material to the dashboard, increasing the premiumness of the cabin. Does it get ADAS? Yes, the South Korean version does get ADAS, and Kia should bring it to India as well.

We don’t expect Kia to fiddle much with the engine specifications of the Seltos. The Seltos already comes with the most engine and transmission options in its segment. So, it will mostly continue with the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Kia could however re-tune the engines to produce more power.
