Hyundai is planning a new micro-SUV for the Indian market. This car is in development and codenamed ‘Ai3’. It is highly likely that Hyundai could use Auto Expo 2023 to unveil this new car, only then we can expect a proper launch. We could expect this car to be launched somewhere around the next year. Talking about its pricing, it could start around Rs 6 to 7 lakh(ex-showroom). As Hyundai is known for its premium affordable quotient, this could be a potential rival for the Tata Punch. Punch rival design and specifications

Tata has managed to come out well in the micro-SUV segment. However, Punch also has some demerits from which Hyundai could benefit. As Tata Punch is only available with a naturally aspirated petrol engine, this new Hyundai could get added benefit of powerful 1.0-turbo petrol. Why do we say this? Because there are rumors that this new Hyundai could share its platform with the Grand i10 Nios.

In terms of design, it would get higher ground clearance and a tall boy look to justify the SUV’s body language. Other additions such as body cladding, roof rails, and chunky wheel arches could be added. Other than that, it could possibly share powertrain options of the same.

Hyundai has a quirky car under its global lineup. It is known as the Casper. This small hatch looks modern in terms of design and gets plenty of tech features. It is sold under the ‘Kei’ cars category which is basically the term designated for small cars in the South Asian markets. However, Hyundai has called off Casper for the Indian market. Why do you ask? As the brand wants to bring something potential against the Punch, this car surely doesnt have the oomph. For starters, it is a small car excluding any SUV characteristics and is built to a cost for a market that demands cheap cars for the masses.
