Honda’s plan to dominate Indian market!
Honda is a prominent automaker in India. Over time, it has launched some popular products that have garnered very impressive sales. With the EV wave now high, Honda is gradually planning to get into the EV market as well. Honda launched the City Hybrid, recently which takes a middle ground in the move towards electrification. Moreover, Honda has also confirmed to bring cleaner cars by the end of this decade. So let’s take a look at Honda’s EV plan for India that will help it dominate the market of the future.
Honda to have more strong hybrid engines?
Honda Cars India has initiated tests for launching their new EV lineup in India. Moreover, it is also testing flex-fuel options and hybrid engines in India. As per Honda, they are confident in the hybrid powertrain as EV infrastructure is still in a developing stage. Also, hybrid provides better fuel economy and run cleaner than ICE cars. Currently, they are stating that hybrid could become a more practical option as they don’t require any charging. The brand also believes that strong hybrid powertrains could work as a catalyst for a smooth transition of the Indian auto market towards complete electrification.
Interestingly, hybrids are something that even Toyota believes in strongly.
Honda’s EV plan for India?
The increasing demand for City Hybrid is allowing Honda to increase its production volume, therefore, accelerating its ‘cleaner cars’ range. Honda is planning to launch an EV in the upcoming years in the country. Tests are in process to know the feasibility of its new EV. Honda Motors’ President has forethought its EV infrastructure for the company. The Japanese automaker could bring 30 new electric vehicles on a global scale by 2030. The brand also plans to produce 2 million EVs by the end of the next decade.
Is Honda focusing on SUVs?
Currently, Honda is on the verge of refreshing its India lineup. One major segment that it is falling behind in is the SUV segment. Honda has thus prioritized the launch of its SUVs here. The development of the new Honda SUV is in progress and we could see a new compact SUV from the brand sometime next year.
