Honda has banked heavily on the City brand name in India. This car has been a game changer for the brand since it was initially launched in 1998. Fast forward to 2022, Honda is currently selling the 4th & 5th generation side-by-side due to its established name, which has definitely helped the brand growing in the sales chart. Moreover, Honda has launched the top-of-the-line Hybrid City in the wake of electrification and the need for an environment-friendly car. On the other hand, the fossil fuel-powered City is also generating a good dividend for the brand. However, there are some improvements that the Honda City can go through. So, what all things could the Honda City possibly get in 2023? Read this article to know.

2023 Honda City – New Features

New 2023 Honda City

The current German competitors – Volkswagen Virtus & Skoda Slavia are offering more in terms of nifty features & equipment. The interior layout and styling in the rivals are also upmarket and more stylish than the basic layout of the City. The City does get features like a sunroof, 6 airbags, a reverse camera, leather seats, an 8-speaker music system, and more, but, there are some areas that can be improved. It could get a more responsive & better-lit touchscreen and improved music system. Moreover, the City could be offered with ventilated seats, something that the buyers would definitely appreciate.

One key element that the City currently loses out on are good tyres. The top variant is offered with 185/55 R16 tyres whereas competitors like Slavia & Virtus come with 205/55 R16 tyres. Adding wider section tyres will help improve traction, ultimately enhancing the driving experience.

2023 Honda City – New gearbox option

The fifth-gen Honda City is available in two engine options. It gets a 1.5-litre petrol i-VTEC engine that generates 119bhp & 145Nm of torque. It comes paired with a six-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox. Moreover, it also gets a 1.5-litre diesel i-DTEC generating 98bhp & 200Nm of torque. The only drawback here is the unavailability of an automatic gearbox option for the diesel engine. It is only available with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Launch & Pricing

New 2023 Honda City

The fifth-generation Honda City goes against the Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and the Hyundai Verna. With the above-mentioned updates, Honda could bump the starting price tag to around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). As far as launch is concerned, nothing has been confirmed by the brand, but we expect Honda to work on these shortcomings to enhance the value-for-money quotient of an already great product. So, would you go for the City if these updates are brought in, or you will go with the Slavia or Virtus? Let us know in the comments.
