After the immense success of the Seltos & Sonet, Kia rolled up its sleeve to dip its hand in the MPV segment. The Carens that goes against the XL6 is also a successful product from the brand. Moving ahead to show its charm in another segment, Kia is touted to bring a new EV to the market. Kia could target the homegrown Tata Nexon EV Max by placing this car in the affordable segment. Kia already has the EV6 in its EV portfolio but its Rs 60 lakh price tag sits far away from the mass-market. Moving to this new EV, the brand is already selling the car in global markets. Could it make its way to India? Can this New Kia EV outsell the Tata Nexon EV Max? Let’s discuss it here.

New Kia EV – Design

New Kia EV

The car that we are talking about here is the Niro EV. If you look at the car, it is akin to the Kona EV from Hyundai. As Hyundai and Kia are sister brands, it is highly likely that the Niro could share the powertrain and battery packs with the Kona EV. The dimensions of the Niro EV are also similar to the Kona EV at 4375mm in length, 1805mm in width, and 1534mm in height. It also sits on a 2700mm wheelbase with a ground clearance of 160mm. Kia could likely bring the updated model to India that could get a modern futuristic design and overall, a fresh look than the current-selling Kona EV.

New Kia EV – Features

New Kia EV

This Niro EV is available for sale in the global markets. So, looking at the feature list, it is quite a loaded car. The Niro EV could get a sleeve of features including an integrated infotainment system, LED headlamps & fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille with integrated charging port, etc. Moreover, justifying the EV prospect, it could get the blue theme design in interior bits and a rotary style gear selector.

Specifications

New Kia EV

Kia could mostly bring the Niro EV with a 39.2kWh battery pack that is already on sale in the Kona EV. Launching the car with the same battery specifications could be beneficial for the brand indicating the cost aspects. This battery pack is good to make 133bhp extracting a claimed range of 452km in the Hyundai Kona EV, whereas, how much range could the Kia pack in, only time will tell.

Launch & Pricing

Kia is expected to price the Niro EV in the Rs 25 lakh price range. As the whole EV segment is in the nascent stage, electric cars are on the pricier side. Considering the features and equipment this car has to offer, the price could justify the car. Moreover, talking about the competition, it could go against the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona EV, and the Tata Nexon EV Max. Do you think Kia should bring the Niro EV?
