The new launches from Mahindra have turned the brand into a new leaf. The utility vehicle king of our country has banked heavily on the ‘Scorpio’ name since its initial launch in 2002. This car has greatly established the brand name and trust of Mahindra. Mahindra recently unveiled the Scorpio Classic but did not reveal the pricing. The new Scorpio Classic has received some minute changes in the exterior over its predecessor. Mahindra has updated the Classic with new alloy wheel designs and an updated front look. The new car will get the new ‘Twin Peaks’ logo on its updated grille. A new pair of front bumper with integrated LED DRLs are added to the new model.

The Scorpio Classic houses a new 9.0-inch infotainment system and comes with some cosmetic changes featuring wooden inserts & leather wrapping on the steering wheel. This SUV offers some more convenient features like cruise control, parking sensors, etc. for a more feature-rich look other than its rugged utilitarian theme.

According to Mahindra, the chassis and mechanics for the Scorpio Classic have been tweaked to provide a better driving experience with reduced body roll. The car is lighter by 55kgs, hence improving the fuel economy by 14% and it is also said to have an improved suspension setup. The Scorpio Classic would be offered with the 2.2-litre mHaWk diesel engine. Present in their other cars like the Thar, this mill is capable enough to make 130bhp & 300Nm of torque. Transmission duties would be done by a six-speed manual only. There is no automatic or 4X4 option.

The Scorpio Classic will be offered in two options. The base ‘S’ variant and top-of-the-line ‘S11’ variant. Mahindra has priced the Scorpio attractively with an introductory price of Rs. 14.70 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the ‘S’ variant, whereas, the fully loaded ‘S11’ variant comes in at Rs. 18.90 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
