Mahindra has consistently been bringing great value-for-money products. The brand recently wrapped up the launch of the Scorpio-N. The Scorpio nameplate has been a fundamental pillar in Mahindra’s SUV journey. It made Mahindra popular even in the semi-urban space. Mahindra has had one more product which made the brand very famous in rural areas. We are talking about the Bolero. As a product, the Bolero has not been updated very heavily when we compare it to others in the brand’s stable. However, considering Mahindra’s push for updating their lineup, the new-generation Bolero is expected to be the next big thing from Mahindra. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Rs 9 lakh Mahindra SUV which is set to come in a new avatar.
Design
The new Bolero is still in its early stages of development, so it’s hard to comment on its design. Most likely, Mahindra will retain the famous boxy look of the Bolero. From Mahindra’s recent design philosophy, the Bolero could get a muscular front design. The SUV might get a front grille similar to the Scorpio-N. What else could be changed? The new Bolero might get LED headlamps, new bumpers and turn indicators on ORVMs. Pratap Bose, Mahindra’s Chief Designer is set to look after the design of the new Bolero.
Rs 9 lakh Mahindra SUV – Specifications
Like the Scorpio-N, the new Bolero is also expected to make a switch to the new-generation ladder on frame platform. What about the engine specifications? The most feasible option is the 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the Bolero Neo. This engine produces 100bhp & 260Nm of torque. Could Mahindra re-tune it? Could be a possibility since Mahindra does love to tweak its engines. Will it get a petrol engine? Highly unlikely since the Bolero has always been a workhorse for the brand and Mahindra would want to continue that identity.
Features
Features are something that an average Bolero customer will not care about, however, looking at Mahindra’s current strategy, the brand might offer some modern features to enhance this SUV’s appeal. The new Bolero might share its features with the Bolero Neo. A new touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, a new sound system, rear AC vents, etc. could be some of the modern offerings.
Rs 9 lakh Mahindra – Launch timeline
Mahindra had confirmed that it will be launching the new Bolero sometime between 2023 and 2026. The new-generation Bolero could see a launch sometime in 2024, considering the fact that the new one has not been spotted testing yet. What about the pricing? We think the pricing of the new Bolero could start from somewhere around Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
