Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder unveiled – how is it unique?

We have been hearing about the Toyota & Maruti’s mid-size SUV for quite some time now. Toyota has been creating hype for the Urban Cruiser HyRyder with new teasers since the past week. Now, Toyota has finally unveiled the Urban Cruiser HyRyder. So, what does the Urban Cruiser HyRyder get and how will it stand out in the segment? Let’s find out in today’s article.

Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder – Design

The new Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder does get a muscular design. Straight off the bat, we have the eyebrow DRLs which extend into the grille till the Toyota logo. We have headlamps below them, similar to the Tata Harrier. What about the side profile? The side profile is tall, quite similar to other mid-size SUVs. What about the interiors? The interiors get leather upholstery on the dashboard. We get a floating infotainment system, below which we have AC controls and other buttons. Other interior highliths include three-spoke steering wheel, digital instrument cluster & dual tone seats.

Specifications

The Urban Cruiser HyRyder will come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. So is this the same engine as the Brezza? Yes, and no. The Urban Cruiser HyRyder will get the 1.5-litre K series engine with ISG. The other configuration is the 1.5-litre TNGA engine with Toyota’s strong hybrid system. Another segment first feature is the availability of an all-wheel drive system. 

Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder – Features

Features have become the heart & soul of Indian buyers. So Toyota had to introduce features in the Urban Cruiser HyRyder. What are these features? It comes with a 9.0-inch infotainment system, 360-degree camera, sunroof, wireless charging, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, remote ignition on/off, etc. In terms of safety, this SUV gets 6-airbags, vehicle stability control, ABS with EBD, Hill hold and hill descend control.

When will it be launched?

This was the global unveiling of the Urban Cruiser HyRyder. The full launch will happen in the coming weeks. We can expect it to start from Rs 12 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) with top variants expected to touch the Rs 25 lakh mark (on-road, Mumbai).
