Mahindra is on an SUV updating streak. It has already modernised its SUV lineup with cars like the XUV300, the new Thar, the XUV700 and the Bolero Neo. The Scorpio-N will be its next big-ticket launch. But what about updating the XUV300? The XUV300 started on a strong note with premium features and powerful engines, but failed to garner the same response as some of its competitors. Moreover, the sudden deletion of features also were a tun-off for many. To turn this around, Mahindra is said to be working on its facelift. So when could the XUV300 facelift launch? Moreover, what could the changes include? In today’s article, let’s find out.

Mahindra is currently quite busy with the launch of the Scorpio-N. In July, the brand will be busy with the unveiling of its Born Electric EVs. However, the XUV300 is still quite an important product for the brand and as mentioned above, the brand is said to be working on its facelift. So when will it launch? Earlier this year, Veejay Nakra, Mahindra’s CEO for automotive division confirmed the XUV300 facelift launch for Q3 FY2022. This means that we could see a launch somewhere around September this year.

What exterior changes could it come with?

The Mahindra XUV300 already comes with a bold design. So what can Mahindra change? We don’t expect any major changes but some subtle changes like reworked bumpers, alloys, headlamps, tail lamps and new grille are expected. All of this would give the facelift a fresh appeal. Moreover, Mahindra would not forget to update the facelift with the new ‘Twin Peaks’ logo.

New interior & features?

The XUV300 does offer comfortable and premium seating but it does fail to impress when it comes to overall appeal of the cabin. The dashboard does look outdated when compared to rest of the competition. Mahindra would definitely be looking to improve this aspect in the facelift. What could be improved? The XUV300 facelift can get a modern dashboard layout with an updated touchscreen infotainment system. Mahindra could integrate the AdrenoX UI with the updated unit to bring it in line with the brand’s modern cars like the XUV700 and the upcoming Scorpio-N. What about features? The XUV300 facelift could get new features like a fully-digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, full LED headlamps, wireless charging, etc.

What could be updated mechanically? Mahindra has been working on a new 1.2-litre mStallion T-GDI turbo-petrol engine for the XUV300. We think Mahindra would use the facelift as the perfect opportunity to bring in this new engine. This new engine will be capable of producing 128bhp & 230Nm of torque. The current 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel will most likely be retained with the facelift. The new turbo-petrol unit could be offered with the higher variants which the brand could call the ‘Sportz’ variant. What about the transmission options? Mahindra currently offer the XUV300 with an AMT gearbox. Will Mahindra change it? Only time will tell.
