Ford today launched it new Endeavour in India. Globally called the Ford Everest, this car is meant to introduce a higher level of luxury with features in the SUV segment. With prices starting from INR 26.95 lakh on road Mumbai, will it give nightmares to its competition?

The Endeavour is available in two engine options; one is the 2.2-litre TDCi four cylinder diesel engine that produces 156bhp along with 385Nm of torque. If you require more power there is the second option of the 3.2-litre five cylinder diesel engine that produces 198bhp and 470Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre engine is available in either a six speed manual gearbox or a six speed automatic gearbox. If you choose the automatic variant, you will be confined with only the 2WD model but the manual gearbox comes with the option of a 4WD drive train as well. Now let’s have a look at the more powerful 3.2-litre model, this is only available in automatic transmission but this will sport a more SUV type 4WD system.

There are in total two trim levels you can either opt for in the new Ford Endeavour. The base model called the Trend and come fitted with features like fog lights, rear spoiler, Skid plates, chrome grille, power adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, keyless entry, power windows, rear parking sensors, power folding and adjustable ORVM’s, rear air conditioning, power lift boot with anti pinch, rear view camera and the works. The list is quite comprehensive and Ford has taken care not to miss out on anything important. The top variant is called the Titanium which is only available in the automatic transmission, come with all the features mentioned on the Trend but is topped up with, LED DRL’s, LED taillights, interior ambient lights, side airbags, curtain airbags, knee airbag, power folding 3rd row seat, panoramic sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system, automatic headlights with HID and power wash just to name a few important ones.

All the models are fitted with 10 speaker audio system that is controlled with a TFT touchscreen. There is connectivity to connect two USB, Aux along with Bluetooth and CD/MP3 player. Ford’s own SYNC voice control system is also present so enable you to give voice commands directly to the car ensuring that the drivers focus always remains on the road.

On the safety front, Ford has catered well, there is front dual airbags that come standard along with ABS, EBD, ESP, Traction control and hill launch control. Hill descent control is also available on all models that feature the 4WD drive train. Another unique feature with Ford is the ability of the car to contact emergency services directly, without any human intervention, in an event of an accident. But for this feature to work, a Bluetooth connected mobile phone is necessary.

Overall we feel that Ford has done well in terms of provided features to their new Endeavour.

There are also many features that are available in any other car in its segment but have been carried forward from the more luxury category.
