New Mahindra Scorpio’s news is coming thick and fast as we near the launch. Mahindra has already shown us the exterior design. And we know a fair bit of information about the interiors. We have also guessed the price, but what about safety? Mahindra has been the flag-bearer of safety, so there are high expectations from the Scorpio. In today’s article, we will talk about Mahindra Scorpio’s expected crash test rating.

Scorpio safety

The current Scorpio didn’t perform that good in GNCAP. It scored 0-stars in adult protection. So will the new Scorpio be any different? We certainly hope so, considering the recent track record of Mahindra. All its newer cars have scored 4 or 5-stars in crash tests. Mahindra has also started teasing its safety. The Scorpio is based on a new ladder on frame chassis that underpins the Thar. The Thar has a 4-star rating from GNCAP, so at the very least, we expect the Scorpio to get a 4-star rating. We think the Scorpio could even score a 5-star crash test rating from GNCAP.

Safety features it might get

Mahindra will also look to load the Scorpio with active and passive safety features. Will it get safety features from the XUV700? We expect it to get safety features like 6-airbags, an electronic stability program, and ABS + EBD. We don’t expect Mahindra to give ADAS on the Scorpio, but Mahindra can offer other features like auto booster headlamps, personalised safety alerts, etc.

New Scorpio crash rating – Launch & pricing

Mahindra has already confirmed that it will be launching the Scorpio on the 27th of June. So what about the pricing? It is hard to figure out the exact price of the Scorpio. But we expect it to start from somewhere between Rs 13.5 lakh to Rs 14.5 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) whereas the top model could touch the Rs 25 lakh mark (on-road).
