Safety is quickly gaining importance in India. Global NCAP has been creating awareness about safety through its #SafercarsforIndia initiative. Between 2014 and 2022, Global NCAP has completed more than 53 safety assessments. Now it has revealed the results of its latest safety assessment. In this test, GNCAP has tested the Hyundai i20, Hyundai Creta and Toyota Urban Cruiser. In today’s article, we will see the crash test result of these cars.

Hyundai i20

The tested i20 comes equipped with two frontal airbags and ABS. It scored 8.84 out of 17 in adult occupant protection. In child safety, it scored 36.89 out of 49. The i20 also recorded an unstable structure, a risk of the driver airbag not fully protecting the driver’s head and weak protection to the driver’s chest. GNCAP was also surprised by the exclusion of a 3-point seat belt, no ESC and no side head impact protection being standard. 

Hyundai Creta

Like the Seltos, the Creta scored 3-stars in the GNCAP test. The tested model was equipped with two frontal airbags and ABS. It scored 8.0 out of 17 in adult occupant protection. In child safety, it scored 28.29 out of 49. The Creta also recorded an unstable structure and risk of injury to the lower legs and feet of the driver. The GNCAP was also surprised that the Creta missed out on the 3-point belt and ESC. 

Crash test result- Toyota Urban Cruiser

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is the sister model to the Brezza. So it comes as no surprise that it has also scored 4-stars in the GNCAP crash test. The tested model was equipped with basic safety with two frontal airbags and ABS. It scored 13.52 out of 17 in adult occupant protection. In child safety, it scored 36.68 out of 49. The body shell integrity was rated stable and capable of withstanding further load.
