Tata has quickly grown to become India’s third top-selling car manufacturer. Tata cars are very well-known for the high safety. Majority of Tata cars stand with a five-star rating from GNCAP. Cars like the Safari & Harrier have been leading the brand stable as Tata’s flagship cars. They however had to face a new rival last year in the form of the Mahindra XUV700. This SUV has made its good name thanks to its muscular design, powerful engines and availability of some segment-first features. Now, Tata is coming up with a new plan to shake the competition, especially the XUV700. In this article on Tata vs Mahindra, we have discuss future plans of Tata Motors and how it will take on the Mahindra XUV700.

Petrol Engine

Tata vs Mahindra

Tata’s flagship cars, the Harrier & the Safari come powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that makes 168bhp & 350Nm of torque. So, petrol buyers have no option and they end up considering other options. However, Tata is soon going to offer them with a petrol engine option as well. Tata is testing its 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine which will be suitable for their bigger products like the Harrier and Safari. The Harrier & Safari with petrol engine options might further dent some sales of the XUV700.

Tata Harrier was launched back in January 2019. It is high time that Tata brings a facelift for the Harrier. The facelift is expected to come with a reworked design, giving customers a fresh vibe. It is also expected to be heavily updated on the inside. Harrier might get a bigger infotainment system, ambient lighting, 360-degree camera and ADAS.

Tata vs Mahindra – Safari facelift

Tata Safari gives direct competition to the Mahindra XUV700. Tata would definitely load it with some extra features that will strongly help it take on the XUV700. We expect the Safari to get a big infotainment system, a fully-digital instrument cluster as well as ADAS. Along with these, the seven-seater SUV will also get the petrol engine option similar to the Safari.
