These seem to be the final images of the much awaited Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure motorcycle. Though it has been spotted several times earlier, in different forms, this version seems to be a market ready one and also looks much better than ones seen earlier.

The Himalayan gets silver-coloured aluminum panniers with black borders, a silver tail lamp cluster, yellow lens turn-indicators, a reflector underneath the rear number plate, dual disc brakes and spoke wheels. The bike also gets mounts for jerry cans on both sides of the fuel tank, a new swing arm and a mono shock, which is first for a Royal Enfield motorcycle. The seat looks slim seat and the  handlebar is broad with round rear view mirrors that we hope are functional enough. The bike also gets front splash guard, due to the raised mudguard. There is also a windshield, which we are not sure will be offered as standard fitment.

RE Himalayan Spied-3

The Himalayan is fitted with a 410cc single-cylinder engine that churns about 27bhp of power and 32Nm of torque. This is the new engine that will also be powering other bikes of Royal Enfields. This engine comes mated to a five-speed transmission. The bike will have front and rear disc brakes as well. ABS won’t be offered even as an optional feature. The pricing of the Royal Enfield Himalayan will be about INR 2 lakhs (on-road) and will get Ceat tyres as the stocks ones.

The Himalayan will be an affordable choice for the adventure-biking community in India and is expected to catapult the sales of Royal Enfield to a higher level. It is to be seen how well this bike performs, especially with the new engine and the dynamics. Expect a launch very soon.
