Volkswagen Ameo spotted on test

Volkswagen’s new compact sedan, Ameo has been spotted on test. This new compact sedan is under four metres and has been testing for a while. The new Ameo will be launched in India sometime this year, however it will be unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo. This new compact sedan is based on the Polo platform.

Volkswagen will be powering this new compact sedan with a 1.2-litre petrol, and even a 1.0-litre TSI while the diesel will be the 1.

5-litre. Volkswagen’s Ameo will be competing with the new Maruti Swift DZire, Hyundai XCent, Tata Zest and the Honda Amaze. The Ameo has been designed for the Indian car market and it will come with features like integrated touchscreen infotainment system with GPS, reverse parking camera or sensors, chilled glovebox, electrically folding ORVMs,  rear AC vents maybe as well. The Ameo will be manufactured in Chakan and this could even be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol with automatic transmission as well.

The Volkswagen Ameo’s side profile that has been spotted clearly shows that the boot is smaller and at the same time it has the wheelbase of the Polo than that of the Vento. The Ameo will be more of a driver’s car and will be a direct rival to the Ford Figo Aspire.
