5 car checks you can do yourself
Taking care of your car is important. People do clean their car but either forget or don’t know some important points they can do themselves to take even further care of their car. So, keeping that in mind, we have listed some important points you must check in your car before going on a long or a short trip.
Tyre pressure
We mustn’t bottom out the tyre. So, before going on a ride, always check the tyre pressure. Always fill the air with recommended pressure. The proper air pressure is mentioned on the driver’s side for you to check.
Engine Coolant
Before going on a long trip, one of the most important things is to keep your car cool. So for this, the coolant in our radiator must not be less. The coolant must be filled up to the point marked on the radiator neck. An important tip which can be considered is to carry extra coolant in the car boot before a long journey.
Engine oil level
Engine oil is very important to run the engine smoothly. A good quality engine oil can make your engine smoother and give your engine long life. So, never compromise with the quality of engine oil that you use. Also, check out the engine oil level once in a while. To check the oil level, open the engine bay and open the oil filler cap. A rod with a marking for accurate oil level dipped in it will be present. Check whether the rod is wet till the accurate marking. If the oil is below the marking, it is time to fill it up.
Car checks – Brake oil level
While driving a car, brakes are very important to slow down or even stop the car. So, checking the brake oil level regularly can be a lifesaver. You can check the brake oil in the engine bay. The oil must be above the marked level in the brake oil container.
Car checks – Washer fluid
Washer fluid is the liquid we use to clean the windshield of our car. When we use the wiper, it sprays the washer fluid on the windshield and wipes it out. So, filling the washer fluid from time to time is also a thing we can do ourselves every day.
