Upcoming CNG cars in the next six months
Increasing fuel prices have left people looking for affordable alternatives. Carmakers have started providing CNG versions of their popular cars to meet the requirements of car buyers. CNG cars are more fuel-efficient and comparatively affordable when compared to electric vehicles. In this article, we will discuss five upcoming CNG cars that we expect to be launched in the next six months.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
Maruti is expected to bring in a CNG variant of the all-new Vitara Brezza in the coming time. This will make the Brezza the first sub-four-metre SUV in the country to be made available with a CNG option. This will allow the compact SUV to return more fuel efficiency than what it currently returns. The Vitara Brezza CNG is expected to start somewhere around Rs 10 lakh (on-road).
Maruti Suzuki Dzire
Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the bestselling compact sedan. This car is known for its fuel efficiency and reliability. The Dzire currently gets a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine that generates 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. The Dzire is expected to get a CNG in its VXi variant along with a five-speed manual transmission. The power and torque figures will drop by around 10 percent but fuel efficiency will improve. The CNG variant of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is expected to be Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 more expensive than the petrol VXi variant of this car.
Maruti Suzuki Swift
Maruti Suzuki Swift is another popular car from the brand. The car has been a best seller for Maruti for quite some time. Maruti Suzuki Swift is a great value for money product. A CNG variant is what we feel is missing in the product lineup of Maruti Suzuki. Maruti Suzuki will soon bring a CNG version of the swift along with its 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a manual gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Maruti Suzuki Baleno is a premium hatchback that is consistently doing good sales for Maruti. The car looks premium and has the latest features. However, a CNG variant of Baleno could add more numbers to its sales figures. The car currently gets 1.2-litre petrol engine with manual and CVT gearbox options. Maruti Suzuki Baleno with a factory-fitted CNG kit and manual gearbox seems to be a manageable task for Maruti Suzuki in the upcoming update. We can soon expect the Baleno CNG to be launched followed by the Vitara Brezza CNG.
Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon is one of the most versatile models in the portfolio of Tata Motors. This SUV is available in petrol, diesel and electric version. We expect Tata to bring a CNG variant for the Nexon soon. Currently, the Nexon is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 118bhp & 170Nm of torque paired to a six-speed manual and a six-speed AMT gearbox. With CNG being added, the power and torque figures could change. The Tata Nexon iCNG is expected to see a launch sometime this year.
