The Harrier has been a strong product for Tata Motors since its launch in 2019. It has been so popular due to its muscular design and features. But Tata has not given it any major update since its launch. So it is facing stiff competition from newer cars, especially the XUV700. Mahindra has loaded the XUV700 with features and priced it quite competitively compared to the Harrier and Safari. Tata knows this and will be updating the Harrier to take on the XUV700. In today’s article, we will discuss the features Tata Harrier facelift needs to rival the XUV700.

Petrol engine

The Harrier currently comes with only diesel engine options. SUV buyers have always preferred diesel engines, but a sizable chunk also buys petrol-powered SUVs. The XUV700 upped the game by offering a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. To challenge this, Tata would need at least a 1.6-litre turbo or higher.

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)

ADAS

The XUV700 was the first car to introduce ADAS in this segment. Now it is expected that all manufacturers offer ADAS in their new launches. Also, considering Tata’s push for safety, it could offer ADAS on the Harrier facelift. With ADAS, tech-savvy and safety-conscious people would be attracted to the Harrier.

360-degree camera

A 360-degree camera is a feature that should be offered on all big SUVs. It is a feature that gives you great control while navigating through narrow spaces. It can be also helpful for new drivers to get in sync with the dimensions of the car.

Ventilated seats

Cool your car Ventilated seats

Ventilated seats have quickly become a much-demanded feature in our hot and humid climate conditions. They provide great ventilation to our back on long drives reducing fatigue. The XUV700 misses out on this feature and Tata can take the lead by providing it on the Harrier facelift.

Bigger touchscreen with wireless phone connectivity

Big infotainment systems have become an important selling point. The Harrier comes with a 7.0-inch infotainment system, which is quite small when compared to the XUV700. Tata should give it at least a 10.0-inch system to suit the cabin. Also, Tata should add wireless phone connectivity to this system, considering the convenience it provides.
