Mahindra Ssangyong Tivoli is due to make it to India. However, the company might not be getting the existing diesel engine. Mahindra at the moment is testing a 2.0-litre diesel engine on the Tivoli for India. With the Rexton not being a success in India, Mahindra wants to ensure that it succeeds in this segment.
The Ssanyong Tivoli was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo. It will be launched by the end of 2016, or by early 2017.
The Ssanyong Tivoli is based on a new platform which is efficient and strong. This compact SUV has sharp lines and a sleek yet aggressive front end. There is slim grill with sleek tapering wrap-around headlamps at both ends. The headlamps have embedded LED DRLs in top. with modern silhouette. The fog lamps are integrated in an aggressive bumper with wide air intakes. The creases on the sides are bold and the bodily gets flared towards the rear end. The alloy wheels are petal styled ones with a black-machined finish. The ORVMs have turn indicators and the toilsome have silver inserts in them.
Ssangyong Tivoli will get a choice of three trim colors, which are black, beige and red. The SUV dons an infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen. It has bluetooth compatibility, reversing camera, MP3, USB and AUX connectivity. The smart steering system enables the driver to choose from normal, comfort and sport modes.The steering wheel also has audio and bluetooth controls mounted on it. In addition the Ssangyong Tivoli will also get dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery and push button start.
The Mahindra Ssangyong Tivoli will be fitted with two engines. The first one is a a 1.6-litre petrol and the second one is a a 2.0-litre diesel especially for India. The petrol engine will be mated to a six-speed manual as well as a six-speed automatic transmission from Aisin, Japan. This is the second generation transmission and it is the same gearbox that is also fitted in the new XUV500. This has better response and it is a lighter unit. This engine churns out a maximum power of 126bhp and 160Nm of torque. The diesel engine will also be mated to the same transmissions and it delivers a power of 130bhp and 350Nm of torque.
The Ssangyong Tivoli will be price between INR 13 lakhs and INR 17 lakhs (on-road). It will primarily compete with Hyundai Creta and also the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.

The petrol version is expected to deliver around 12 km/l while the diesel is expected to return 18-20 km/l.
