Volkswagen launched the Taigun a few weeks back. Followed by that was the launch of the Volkswagen Tiguan facelift. The next product from the brand is expected to be the Virtus, the sister car to the Skoda Slavia. We have recently spotted the Volkswagen Virtus being tested around Pune. The car has been spotted with a right-hand drive which indicates that the new Virtus could be soon seen in India. In this article, we will discuss what the spy shots have revealed so far.

What was spotted?

Volkswagen Virtus

The heavily camouflaged car spotted during its test run around Pune was spotted with a right-hand-drive. This new car is expected to replace the currently available Vento. Previously the Virtus was spotted with a left-hand-drive indicating that the car was being tested for export to other countries. The car that is spotted now is expected to be India-specific.

Volkswagen Virtus Design

Volkswagen Virtus

The camouflaged Virtus spotted looks similar to the recently-unveiled Slavia. This new car has some unique elements that make it look different from the Vento. New headlamps, fog lamps, taillamps, and a smaller grille are prominent features that can be noticed in the spy shots.

Dimensions

Volkswagen Virtus

The Volkswagen Virtus is expected to be 4482mm in length, 1751mm in width, 1472mm in height with a wheelbase of 2651mm. The Vento on the other hand is 4390mm in length, 1699mm in width, 1467mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2553mm. The Virtus is bigger than Vento. With bigger dimensions, Virtus will be able to offer better cabin space. This also means that the car will have better legroom, knee room, shoulder room, and headroom in the cabin.

Specifications

Volkswagen Virtus

A 1.0-litre and a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine will be offered in this sedan. There are very slim chances of Volkswagen offering a diesel engine with this car. The 1.0-litre petrol engine will come paired with a six-speed manual and an automatic gearbox options. The 1.5-litre engine will be offered with a six-speed manual and a seven-speed DSG gearbox.
