The Mahindra XUV500 was a very strong player for the brand. The XUV500 had a muscular road-presence with its sharp-yet-bold looks. This SUV was however discontinued as soon as the XUV700 was launched. Now, Mahindra has some plans for reviving the XUV500. Let’s get into details about what we can expect in the new-generation Mahindra XUV500.

New-generation Mahindra XUV500 Design

The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 would be a smaller car in terms of dimension than the original XUV500. We expect Mahindra to retain the XUV500’s sharp design & muscular looks in the new-generation as well. It would not be a seven-seater car anymore. The XUV500 will be a five-seater C-segment SUV and would be placed exactly between the XUV300 and the XUV700, in terms of dimension and pricing as well.

Features and Engine

The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 will come loaded with features. We expect multiple features to be carried from the XUV700 as well. Under the hood, Mahindra would give the XUV500 powerful petrol and diesel engines. We expect Mahindra to offer the XUV700’s 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 153bhp & 360Nm of torque. The petrol engine could be the 2.0-litre mStallion unit from the Thar that makes 148bhp & 300Nm of torque.

Pricing and Competition

The Mahindra XUV500 will be priced between the XUV300 and the XUV700. So, we can expect the price to start from Rs 10.5 lakhs (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 18 lakhs (ex-showroom). Being a C-segment SUV, its biggest competitor would be the Hyundai Creta. It will also compete with the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
