Rs 15 lakhs is a sweet segment where many people in India buy their car. But there is a lot of confusion over here as there is a huge number of cars. This price range has various segments of cars like premium hatchbacks, sub-four-metre compact SUVs, compact SUVs, MPVs, mid-sized sedans and electric vehicles as well. Here is a list of the best car in each segment you can buy at Rs 15 lakhs.
Hatchback – Maruti Baleno
Suzuki Baleno is the top-selling premium hatchback in India. It is a spacious and comfortable car. The Baleno offers a great value-for-money package. You can go with the top-of-the-line ‘Alpha’ variant which gets all the features of this car. It gets LED headlamps as well as LED tail lamps. On the interior front, it gets a 7.0-inch infotainment system that supports Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. In terms of safety, it gets front dual airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminders, seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, and a speed alert warning.

Compact SUV is the most crowded segment in India. Out of the various options, the Tata Nexon is one of the most practical compact SUVs. It is one of the safest cars in its segment as well. You can consider the HTK Plus petrol variant of the Kia Seltos under Rs 15 lakhs. The HTK Plus variant of Kia Seltos offers 16-inch alloy wheels. It gets a remote start-stop feature. We get an 8.0-inch infotainment system with four speakers & two tweeters and wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. In terms of safety, it gets dual airbags, ABS, EBD, seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, and seat belt reminders as well. Under the hood, the HTK Plus variant gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine which makes 113bhp & 144Nm of torque. MPV – Maruti Ertiga
For big families, MPVs are the best category of vehicle to consider. The Maruti Ertiga is the highest-selling MPV in India. Ertiga comes in four variants – LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. The Ertiga gets the K15 petrol engine which produces 103bhp & 138Nm of torque. This engine is mated with a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic gearbox. The VXi variant is offered with factory-fitted CNG kits as well.
In terms of safety and features, it has dual airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, high-speed alert, seat belt warning, coloured TFT MID, infotainment system with four speakers, connectivity features like Android Auto & Apple Car Play in top models. Rs 15 lakh cars- Compact sedan – Honda Amaze.
You can consider the Honda Amaze as it is a great overall package. On the interior front, the Amaze gets a 7.0-inch infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. It also gets automatic climate control in the top model. The Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 89bhp & 110Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 99bhp & 160Nm of torque. Mid-Sized Sedan – Maruti Ciaz

Rs 15 lakh cars- Electric Vehicle – Tata Tigor EV
There is not much competition in this segment as there are very limited electric cars in India. The new Tigor EV with Ziptron technology becomes a great option for you. The Tigor EV is rated four-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. It is driven by a 55kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with a liquid-cooled thermal management system.
