Chevrolet likely to launch a sedan next Diwali – EXCLUSIVE

Chevrolet has plans to launch at least three products in 2016. If you have been a regular reader at MotorOctane, you will be aware that the two products are MUV- Spin and the SUV- Spin Activ (which are likely to be called as Essentia and Ultiva). These two vehicles will be launched in the first half of 2016. The MUV is a seven-seater, while the SUV is a sub four-metre with five seats. Both these vehicles will be manufactured in company’s Talegaon plant.

The third product that GM will be launching is the new-generation Cruze. This new Cruze will be launched around Diwali and it will be powered by a 1.7-litre diesel engine and maybe the same 2.

0-litre diesel will also be offered along with this. The new-generation Cruze is lighter, more powerful and even fuel-efficient than the currently sold version.

Chevrolet is one of the automakers that has been downsizing its global products and the Cruze is one of them. This new Cruze platform will also be churning out some more products from it.

Chevrolet has plans to get a Honda City rival and a premium hatchback in 2018. The new-generation Beat is also in the making for the Indian car market. Chevrolet will be investing heavily towards making an India-specific product too.

All its Indonesian product will be shifted to Talegaon and it will divert the new car projects from South Korea to India as well. As there has an increase in labour cost in South Korea a lot of its South Korean manufacturing will be shifting to India, making Talegaon its new major hub for exports.
