The waiting period for cars has gone up and some cars have reported a waiting period of almost 18 months. Some new interesting cars are being planned by carmakers in India that we expect to see in 2022. Here is our list of five cars that SUV buyers should wait for.

Maruti Jimny

Maruti Suzuki is planning to step into the lifestyle vehicle segment by introducing Jimny in India. The Jimny is one of the most anticipated cars that car enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for. The Jimny will get features like touchscreen infotainment, cruise control, automatic climate control, and automatic headlamps. This SUV will t witty to eat the sales of Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.

Toyota Hilux

Pickup trucks, off-road vehicles, and SUVs are gaining popularity in India. Toyota has spotted an opportunity in these segments and seems to be planning to bring in a new product. The Toyota Hilux is a pick-up truck that comes with rugged looks and 4×4 capabilities. The Toyota Hilux is built on the IMV platform, similar to Innova and the Fortuner which are built in India. The Hilux also shares its engine, gearbox, and four-wheel-drive system with Innova and Fortuner. This will make manufacturing the Hilux in India cost-effective for Toyota. The Hilux is expected to be priced around Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). The Toyota Hilux is expected to be launched in India in January 2022. This in a way is a unique car that SUV buyers should wait for.

New-generation Mahindra Scorpio

The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio is bound to come with a modern and bold design that will surely attract buyers. The SUV will come loaded with features like dual-zone climate control, smartphone connectivity (Apple CarPlay & Android Auto), a 360-degree camera, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and many more. This SUV will be a strong competitor for products like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos that fall in the same pricing bracket. The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio is expected to be launched in the price bracket of around Rs 15 to Rs 16 Lakh (ex-showroom).

New-generation Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza continues to bring good sales for Maruti in the sub-four-metre compact SUV segment. The car has not been updated for years and now it has started showing its age. Maruti is said to be working on the new-generation of Vitara Brezza. Maruti may also offer a CNG version of the Vitara Brezza.

Mahindra Thar Five-Door 

There is news regarding Mahindra already working on a five-door version of Thar. The five-door version will be definitely bigger than the normal Thar. The extra space will offer more spacious interiors for more practical use. The Thar will continue to use the existing cabin layout with the second row getting more space and getting separate doors for ingress and egress. The Thar five-door will be more premium than the three-door Thar. Moreover, the engines are expected to be slightly re-tuned in order to make more power.
