Previously when Mahindra and Ford were working together on building a Hyundai Creta competition car, they had registered a trademark under the name of XUV400. But recently there has been some change, the electric version of XUV300 known as the eXUV300 will get this name and will be launched as the Mahindra XUV400. In this article, we will discuss five things that we want from the Mahindra XUV400 in India.

Mahindra XUV400 Design

XUV400

The XUV400 will carry the same design language as the eXUV300 that was on display at the Auto Expo 2020. Closed-off grille, unique front and rear bumpers, and newly designed alloy wheels will make their way to the production version of the XUV400.

Mahindra XUV400 Build Quality

XUV400

Cars from Mahindra are known for their sturdy build quality and rugged looks. We expect the Mahindra XUV400 to continue the legacy of Mahindra. The car will be equally robust and rugged as the XUV300. It will use the Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA) platform. The XUV300 had scored a five-star safety rating at the Global NCAP test. We expect the XUV400 to be equally safe when it gets tested for safety at Global NCAP.

Range

eXUV300

Looking at other EV cars that are currently available in India is as follows. Hyundai Kona offers 452km, MG ZS EV offers 419km, Tata Nexon EV 312km and the Tata Tigor Ev claims 306km. Mahindra XUV400 is expected to deliver a range of 320km to 350km so that it can direct beat its rivals in the EV segment.

Battery Life

During the Auto Expo 2020, the eXUV300 was on display as a concept car. The electric SUV was equipped with a 350V powertrain and a more powerful 380V version. In terms of price, the 350V version of the XUV400 will compete with the Tata Nexon EV and the 380V version will compete with the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona. The XUV 400 is expected to take six to eight hour for full charge using a domestic wall socket and 45 to 60 minutes using a fast charger.

Features

The XUV400 is expected to get all the latest features offered in the EV segment. Electric sunroof, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity are some of the prominent features that we can expect to be included in the XUV400. Since Mahindra offers booster headlamps and AdrenoX in its flagship SUV the XUV700. We can expect similar features to be added to the XUV400 as well.
