Design

The Mahindra Scorpio gets a boxy design with a long bonnet design and big headlamps. The Scorpio was built on ladder-frame chassis that made it a complete SUV. The SUV also had a 4×4 drive mode offered as an option in the top-end variant. The SUV to date looks intimidating with its tremendous road presence.

Engine

The latest version of the Mahindra Scorpio is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 120 bhp and 297 Nm of torque. Back in 2007, the Scorpio used to get a 2.6-litre CRDE diesel engine that used to produce 115bhp and 287Nm of torque. The Scorpio has witnessed four engine upgrades since its first generation. A gear-driven direct injection 2.6 litre diesel, chain-driven DI, then the CRDE, and finally the mHawk. The base variant of the Scorpio had the 2.5 litre engine that was also shared with Bolero. The SUV used to get an optional 4×4 drive system in its top-end variant.

Used Mahindra Scorpio Cons

However, there are a few points that don’t go in favor of the Mahindra Scorpio.

Lacks Feature

The Scorpio is not a feature-loaded SUV. When compared to recently launched SUVs or Compact SUVs the Scorpio seems a bit outdated in the creature comforts.

Lacks Space

The interiors of the Scorpio are not spacious and the seats seem to bit stiff. The base variant is offered with side-facing bench seats in the third row, which seem like a compromise on the safety aspect and comfort.

Maintenance

While buying a used Scorpio be mentally prepared to face issues with suspension components as they tend to wear down, especially the rubber bushes. When these bushes wear out the Scorpio becomes quite unstable and tends to wobble. Other parts on the Scorpio are otherwise very well sorted and the car is mostly trouble free.
