Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is one of the best-selling cars in the sub-four-metre compact SUV segment in India today. The car pulls in decent and consistent sales figures for Maruti Suzuki. However, the lack of a diesel engine option is causing buyers to look for other SUVs instead of Vitara Brezza. A BS6-compliant diesel seems farfetched for Maruti, but offering a CNG option is quite viable. In this article, we will discuss five things we expect from the CNG variant of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Maruti Vitara Brezza CNG Specifications

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will get a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit that will produce 91bhp & 122Nm of torque mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The same engine set-up is currently available on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG. The car is expected to deliver an ARAI-certified mileage of 26.2km/kg.

Variants

The CNG kit will be offered in the VXi variant of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with a factory-fitted CNG kit is offered only in the VXi variant. Maruti Suzuki will similarly place the CNG variant for Vitara Brezza in their product line-up.

Fuel savings

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza with a CNG kit is expected to be more fuel-efficient. This will result in actual savings in terms of money spent on fuel. The current petrol engine offered in the Vitara Brezza delivers a fuel economy of 17.03 to 18.76kmpl (ARAI certified). The SUV with CNG is expected to deliver a mileage of 26.2 km/kg (ARAI certified).  

Reliability 

The CNG variant of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is expected to be equally reliable as the petrol variant. The cars from Maruti Suzuki are known for their reliable and durable engines. The car will get a warranty of two years or 40,000km (whichever is early) from Maruti Suzuki. This will make owning the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza a hassle-free experience.

Price

Currently, the LXi variant of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is priced at Rs 10.07 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). We expect the price of the LXi variant with CNG to be around Rs 10.70 to Rs 11 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The car will be reasonably priced as currently there is no car in the sub-four-metre compact SUV segment that comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
