All through the second half of 2015, there have been talks of Bajaj lining up to make some big moves in the New Year. Many of these were on the lines of the Chakan-based two-wheeler major gearing up to launch a new, sub-brand of commuter motorcycles. This new line, was to be slotted in-between the existing, Discover & Platina range. Turns out, there’s a slight year-end twist in the tale. Bajaj is indeed scheduled to launch a new sub-brand for motorcycles. But it will replace the existing ‘Discover’ range.

Moreover, Bajaj Auto will buck the usual commuter motorcycle trend and the first model under the ‘Discover’ replacement will be powered by a 150cc engine. Sources close to the company, says Bikewale, have indicated that this new launch will have a special element to the package. Much as we are intrigued by the whole ‘Discover’ replacement talks, we’re also interested in knowing just what kind of a surprise Bajaj Auto has in store for us.

A few things that we do know about the new sub-brand, is that it will mark a departure from the usual ‘please all, excite few’ styling approach of the Bajaj Discover family. The Chakan-based manufacturer will indeed inject a bit of excitement in the visual department on the new motorcycle range. Another departure from the past will be the fact that the new sub-brand will not have multiple models in incremental engine capacities and styling options. As is to be expected though, the new, feature-rich range of 125-150cc motorcycles will be positioned at a higher price-point than the outgoing ‘Discover’ range.

We will be keeping our eyes peeled as this develops, and update you the moment we have further information on the ‘Discover’ replacement that should be introduced sometime in 2016.
