Just after the reveal of the exterior images of the second generation Chevrolet Niva, the interior images of the same have just leaked onto the internet. The second generation Niva is the tool that Chevrolet are using to eat into the compact SUV segment in India.

The car which is due to be launched in 2016, will continue to be manufactured at their plant in Russia.

The interior depicted in the images is nearly identical to that of the Chevrolet Niva Concept unveiled at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show. It features a familiar Chevrolet design, featuring a 3-spoke steering wheel, motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster, and piano black gloss trim around the center console.

As seen in the patent images and spyshots, the production-spec Niva will look largely identical to the concept’s exterior, whilst featuring production-spec elements. The 2016 Niva will also be longer and bigger than the current model for extra cabin space, say reports.

Russian reports expect a 1.6-litre or a 1.8-litre petrol engine that is capable of producing around 120 PS (88 kW).

The Niva concept was presented with a 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine delivering 122 PS (90 KW), and mated to a five-speed manual transmission, a locking differential and an All-Wheel Drive system.
