Entering a new segment, Tata launched the Punch recently. The car became instantly popular with its launch. The first-month sales figures of Tata Punch were quite impressive with 8453 units sold in October 2021. Other brands are also preparing themselves to compete with this new product from Tata Motors. In this article, we will discuss the upcoming competition cars that will directly lock horns with the Tata Punch.

Citroen unveiled its next product for India, the C3. The Citroen C3 has a very peculiar design language. The front fascia of C3 gets a neat DRL setup that seamlessly integrates with the grille. The Citroen C3 is based on the CMP modular platform. An upright bonnet and high-raked windshield are other prominent features of the C3. The car will be 3980mm in length and is expected to get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The car will get a five-speed manual and an automatic gearbox to choose from. The car is expected to be feature-loaded with availability of features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and steering mounted controls.

Hyundai Casper to rival Tata Punch

Hyundai launched a micro SUV by the name of Casper in South Korea. Hyundai has used a very unique design language on the Casper. The front fascia of the car is different from other Hyundai cars with a speaker-like grille and round headlamps with a DRL setup and some sharp lines on its bonnet. The rear of the car gets rounded tail lamps with reflectors over them. The Hyundai Casper is based on Hyundai’s K1 platform.

The overall dimensions of the Hyundai Casper will be very similar to the Tata Punch. The car is expected to get 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual and AMT gearbox combinations. The Hyundai Casper is expected to be equally feature-loaded with an eight-inch infotainment system, keyless entry, reverse parking camera and sensors, connected car technology, and a premium sound system. Safety features will include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX as standard features.

Maruti Suzuki YTB

The third Tata Punch competition will be the coupe-inspired micro SUV from Maruti Suzuki. The car is codenamed YTB and expected to look similar to the Futuro-E concept car that was on display at the Auto Expo 2020. The car is expected to get the same engines that are currently offered in Baleno, the 1.2-litre petrol engine with manual & CVT gearbox and the other 1.2-litre Dual Jet petrol engine with a five-speed manual gearbox. The launch of this car is delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the microchip shortage.
