Why Tata Nexon sells more than Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza?
Tata Motors is gaining popularity in the sub-four-metre compact SUV segment. The Tata Nexon sold 10,096 units in October. The other popular car in the segment is Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which managed to sell 8,032 units in October. In this article, we will discuss why Nexon sells more than Vitara Brezza.
Tata Nexon Safety
Tata Nexon is one of the safest cars you can buy in India. The car scored a five-star rating at the Global NCAP testing. While the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza scored a four-star rating during the crash test. The Vitara Brezza is the only car from Maruti Suzuki to score a four-star rating at Global NCAP. Indian buyers have started giving priority to safety while considering a car.

Tata Nexon is also available as an electric vehicle. EVs are becoming popular in the country. Tata Nexon EV is currently the best value-for-money EV you can buy. This factor also adds to the monthly sales figures of Tata Motors.
Features
Tata Nexon is feature-loaded when compared to Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Tata Nexon gets features like an electric sunroof, iRA-Connected car technology, a Harman music system, and a 7-inch floating touch screen infotainment system. None of the variants of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza get a sunroof.
Engine
Tata Nexon is available in 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that produces 118bhp and 170Nm of torque. The Nexon is also available in 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq diesel engine that produces 108bhp and 260Nm of torque. The car is available in manual and AMT gearbox options. While the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza gets only 1.5-litre K15B ISG petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque mated to a manual or an automatic torque converter gearbox. The diesel variant of Vitara Brezza was discontinued after BS6 norms came into implementation.
Price
The Nexon has one of the longest lists of variants available with almost 34 variants in various combinations of petrol, diesel engine along with manual and AMT gearbox to choose from. The price range of Nexon starts from Rs 8.68 lakh to Rs 16.14 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has nine variants available and the price range starts from Rs 8.86 lakh to 13.18 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Lack of variants and a diesel engine could be another reason for Vitara Brezza to sell fewer units despite pricing being competitive against Tata Nexon.
