Mahindra is a well-known brand when it comes to SUVs in India. They have been planning to revamp their SUV lineup. The recently launched XUV700 is the first car in their new lineup. The next car expected to join forces with the XUV700 is the new generation of Mahindra’s iconic Scorpio. Back in the days, Scorpio was a car that helped Mahindra to strengthen its roots in the SUV segment. The new generation Scorpio is expected to be a car loaded with segment-leading features. Exterior Design

The new generation Mahindra Scorpio will get an all-new look when it comes to its exteriors. The new exteriors design of the Scorpio is expected to retain the traditional Mahindra grille to maintain continuity and resemblance with the previous generation Scorpio. The Grill will carry the new twin-peak Mahindra SUV logo. The car will get newly designed headlamps with LED DRL. The front fascia will also carry a newly designed bumper with a new fog lamp setup. The rear end of the new Scorpio will get newly designed taillights and an integrated spoiler. The new generation Mahindra Scorpio will also get a new set of alloy wheels.

Interiors

The new generation Scorpio will also get redesigned interiors. The dashboard layout will be all-new with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV is also expected to come with an electric sunroof. A keyless entry with a push-button engine start-stop is expected in the new generation Scorpio. Cruise control, dual-zone climate control, semi-digital instrument cluster are some of the features that will be included in the new generation Scorpio.

Mahindra is expected to offer the new generation Scorpio with both petrol and diesel engines just like they did with XUV700 and Thar. The engines that will be offered are the same that are currently seen in the Thar. The 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine is the same that produces 150bhp and 300Nm of torque for Thar. The diesel engine is expected to be the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 153bhp and 360 Nm of torque for the XUV700 MX variant. The engines will be offered in a different state of tune for more power. Mahindra will offer this SUV with the option of manual and automatic transmission.

Dual zone climate control

The new generation Scorpio will get some segment-leading features like dual-zone climate control, aero-twin blade wipers, cruise control, keyless entry, third row AC vents with charging ports and in-cabin voice assist. Mahindra will also add drive modes in the new generation Scorpio. This will make driving in difficult conditions easy as there will be different drive modes to choose from like Mud mode, Snow mode, and Sand mode. A 4×4 variant will also be offered for the off-roading enthusiast with 4H and 4L transfer box. Hill assist and hill descent control are also expected to be offered in the new generation Scorpio.

  • It is heartening that Mahindra has decided to introduce the new Scorpio rather than a new model altogether. The Scorpio is an icon today and should continue in a new avatar.

    I ‘m glad that together with the candy-floss features Mahindra reinforces the Scorpio hardware with a proper low ratio transfer case. I used my earlier Scorpio for 14+ years and we loved every moment of it.

    Currently we have the BS6 Thar and are loving it too.
