Ford Endeavour to comeback – How?

Recently, Ford became another foreign manufacturer that had to wrap up from the Indian market. Many factors contributed to the ford exit. But while it was in the market, it did produce some popular cars like the Ecosport and Endeavour. The Endeavour was especially popular in the full-size SUV segment competing with Toyota Fortuner. The Endeavour was a great overall package. Now Ford is working on bringing it back into the Indian market. In today’s article, we will see how the Ford Endeavour will make a comeback in 2022. 

Is Ford Endeavour coming back in 2022?

According to a leaked report on the internet, Ford could relaunch the Endeavour via the CBU (completely built unit) route. This was expected as Ford had said that they are not completely exiting the Indian market. The exported Endeavour will come with a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine. Ford was actually testing this engine before their exit announcement. This engine is capable of producing 211bhp and 500Nm of torque. It will come with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Considering the car will come through the CBU route, it will be more expensive than the earlier model.  Outside India, Ford is also working on the new generation of the Endeavour. This new generation will get a design inspired by the F-150 pickup and a plug-in hybrid option. There is a possibility that Ford will sell the new gen Endeavour only in India.

Ford’s plans in India

Though Ford has wrapped up production in the Indian market. It is not quitting the market completely. Ford has said they will be bringing their global lineup through the CBU route. There are reports they are bringing as many as eight new models in the upcoming years. The first of these will be the Endeavour; it is expected to be launched in 2022. Other expected models include the Mustang GT and Mustang Mach-E. These models are expected to be expensive as a lot of taxes are levied on CBU vehicles. But at least Ford is bringing their global lineup of big powerful cars.
