The KUV100 will be powered by an all-new engine family that’s been named after the bird of prey, christened the mFalcon. It will comprise of both, diesel as well as petrol engines. The petrol is called the mFalcon, G80. It is a 1.2 litre engine that churns out 82 bhp.

The mFalcon G80 is an all-new engine that’s been developed from the ground up by Mahindra & Mahindra. It marks the beginning of a new journey for the home-grown SUV manufacturer and needless to say, Mahindra is banking big on this engine proving to be a hit with buyers of their latest product, the compact SUV KUV100.

The mFalcon family also includes a diesel engine in the portfolio. Christened the mFalcon D75, it shares the same displacement as the petrol sibling. This 1.2 litre turbocharged engine develops 77 bhp and 114 Nm torque (the highest in its class). The engine has been tuned to offer the highest torque in the low to mid-range, thereby contributing to the strong driving performance characteristics of the KUV100.

The launch of the compact SUV, the KUV100 signals the beginning of a whole new era for the manufacturer. The introduction of the ground-up petrol engine bodes well for the diesel-focussed manufacturer, given the current developments in the emissions control space in the country.
