SUVs are becoming very popular in India. The sub-compact SUV segment is booming in India. Cars in this segment come with high ground clearance and continue to give the SUV feel while still being compact. One such car that is popular in the sub-compact SUV is Mahindra XUV300. Mahindra is expected to bring in a new variant in the XUV300 series. In this article, we will be looking at the XUV300’s new variant.

New Variant

Mahindra had showcased its 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine at the Auto Expo 2020. The new variant of XUV300 is expected to come with this same 1.2-litre mStallion T-GDI turbo petrol engine. The new variant of the XUV300 will be called Sportz. The car will also get cosmetic changes in form of red brake calipers and decals on the front and rear doors with ‘Sportz’ lettering on it to differentiate it from its other petrol variants.

New Engine

The XUV300 is currently available with both petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 108bhp and 200Nm of torque. While the 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 115bhp and 300Nm of torque. Both petrol and diesel engines come with an option of manual and AMT transmission. The new 1.2-litre mStallion T-GDI turbo petrol engine will produce 130bhp and 230Nm of torque mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine will make the XUV300 the most powerful car in its segment. We also expect Mahindra to sell this variant along with the existing variants and won’t replace any engine from the existing lineup.

Other Features

The new variant of XUV300 will continue to come with the same features as the current XUV300. The car will get a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system, electric sunroof, heated ORVMs, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and dual-zone climate control. While the safety features will include dual-front airbags, seat belts with pre-tensioners, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. The top-end variant gets seven airbags, hill start assists, all four disc brakes, and front parking sensors.

Pricing

The base variant of XUV300 is priced at Rs 9.32 lakh (on-road Mumbai) while its top variant is priced at Rs 16.15 lakh (on-road Mumbai). With this new variant introduced, Mahindra is expected to charge an additional amount of Rs 35,000 to Rs 45,000.
