Mahindra recently launched the XUV700, the spiritual successor to the XUV500. Mahindra has confirmed that they will be bringing the XUV500 nameplate in future in a different segment. This different segment most likely will be the C-segment which consist car like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq. In today’s article, we will see this new-generation XUV500.   

Design

New-generation XUV500

The XUV500 will get an all-new design that will follow Mahindra new design language. The car will be around 4.2m in length. From the front, it will get a design similar to the XUV700. It will also get Mahindra’s new twin-peaked logo. Other than, this it will get LED headlamps & taillamps, fog lamps. It will also get a new alloy-wheel design. In the interiors, it will get a spacious cabin with a modern dashboard layout. 

New-generation XUV500 Specifications

Mahindra is expected to use the XUV300 engines in this new XUV500. So the expected engine options will be 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.2-litre petrol makes 109bhp & 200Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre diesel makes 115bhp & 300Nm of torque. Mahindra might retune the engine to provide more power. It will come with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Mahindra will surely load the XUV500 with segment-first features as it did with the XUV700. It will get features like dual-zone AC, 7-airbags, a panoramic sunroof, big touchscreen infotainment, premium sound system,  ambient lighting, multi-driving modes and steering modes. Other than Mahindra might give it some features from XUV700 like ADAS, auto-booster headlamps, personalised safety message and AdrenoX connected car tech. The car will come with a 5-star crash test rating as well.

Considering how aggressively Mahindra has priced the XUV700, it will do the same on this new XUV500 too. It will take on the competition with its build quality, segment-first features and comfortable interiors. It is expected to be launched in 2023.
