The Renault Kwid has been the most sizzling launch of the year and one that has taken the car industry by storm, giving sleepless nights to its competitors.

The pricing of the car was an icing on the cake and immediately set the booking charts on fire.

Now, Renault plans to increase the prices of the Kwid, in Jan 2016, owing to rising input costs.

In the first few weeks of launch, Renault garnered close to 50,000 bookings, setting new standards. The high demand has got Renault to rethink and it has already lined up an increase in production from January 2016. The expected increase in production will be around 10,000 units from the current 5,000-6,000 units, per month. The waiting period of six months for the kid is expected to come down with this. The price increase by Renault follows an announcement by most car manufacturers for the coming year.The incrase will be in the range of INR 7000-10000, approximately.

The Kwid is the entry-level car from Renault having 800cc petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

 The car makes 54bhp of power and 72Nm of peak torque. Its stands as the most fuel efficient petrol car at 25.17km/l, . The car is built with 98 per cent localisationand has certain segment -first features like 180mm ground clearance and aseven-inch touchscreen navigation system.
