We’d earlier reported that the new Volkswagen Beetle should be launched before the end of this year and with bookings opened up through select dealers across the country, the unveiling was close.

It is now learned that the style-icon will indeed be launching in India on 19th December, 2015.

The new-Beetle will be powered by a 1.4 litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine and come mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox. The car will be fully loaded with features and sport a panoramic sunroof. There will be special chrome detailing packages available for both, the exterior as well as the interior. Further, the cabin shall be upholstered in leather. The two-door silhouette, remains among the most recognizable shapes in the automotive world.  The new-Beetle continues in the same illustrious tradition, with the lines merely being tightened up visually, without disturbing the overall look of the car.

The car has grown a size larger than its earlier version and also sits a tad lower on the road. The bumpers are squared off while the roof-line is slightly raked. An integrated spoiler and larger wheel sizes round off the muscular look and should go down well with customers.

Volkswagen is taking the CBU route for the Beetle into the country and pricing is expected to be in in the INR 30 lakh range (on-road).

The Beetle  will be available in four shades viz. Habanero Orange, Onyx White, Silk Blue and Tornado Red.

All eyes are on launch day now, as we await the arrival of this motoring icon.
