Haval SUVs in India – Our expectations

There are a few foreign automobile brands that had been and have been eyeing India for its huge market potential. These companies can very well benefit due to the country’s ever-growing population, with the number of people buying new cars growing every year. Prominent brands like Citroen and McLaren have already entered the country this year. Other brands like Tesla and GWM (Great Wall Motors) are expected to debut in the country soon. GWM is a prominent Chinese brand. We expect GWM to make its debut in the country via its Haval sub-brand. Haval as a sub-brand focuses on crossovers and SUVs. This could be a strong reason for the brand to initiate its India stint with SUVs since this is what customers really want these days. In today’s article, we will look at the Haval SUVs expected in India.

Half-priced Made-in-China Volvo XC90

Haval H9

Haval H9 is a full-size SUV from the brand that will be fit to take on products like Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4. The car is expected to come with a very premium interior that will help be a strong attraction point for prospective buyers. A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine which is capable of producing 218bhp and 324Nm of torque is expected to power the car. Along with this, a diesel engine and a 4WD system are also expected.

Haval Concept H

This particular product when launched would take on C-SUV segment products like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and others. With this segment already hot, Haval would surely be planning to take on the above-mentioned cars and try to establish the Concept H as a worthy opponent. This could surely be made possible with multiple segment-first features, which has significantly helped Creta take the top spot. Concept H has however been revealed in its production avatar in China.

Haval F5

Haval F5 is a mid-size SUV from the Chinese brand that will sit a segment above Concept H. The F5 would thus face products like MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass. Haval F5 as a product would use multiple safety features as its major strength to take on the already established products. Also, we expect the car to come powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that will make close to 166bhp and 285Nm of torque. A diesel engine is also expected with the F5.

Haval Cannon

We have iterated a couple of times that pickup trucks could be the next big thing in the Indian car market. Isuzu has already touched this segment in the country and brands like Toyota and Ford are expected to bring their own pickups to the country. Haval also has a pickup truck called the Cannon. Haval could really use this to fill a segment that is currently in its infant stages. This will also help the brand reach more customers in the country.

Haval H6

Haval H6 will be another product from the Chinese brand that will sit among the premium mid-size SUVs in the country. The H6 has been a best-selling product for Haval in foreign markets, thanks to the multiple safety features that it comes with. We expect Haval to bring this car with ADAS to easily take on the competition.
