Volvo XC90 sits at top of the brand’s portfolio in the country. The car is known for its luxurious interiors and multiple safety features that are on offer. Now, China is notoriously known for copying cars that belong to premium brands. China even made its own copy of Rolls Royce. This is exactly what has happened this time as well. A Chinese brand is ready with its copy of the Volvo XC90, and it is said to be made available at half the price of what the XC90 asks when it officially launches. Today’s article will deal with this half-priced Made-in-China Volvo XC90. Let’s go.

Ford Territory – The China Connection

What does the Made-in-China Volvo XC90 look like?

Made-in-China Volvo XC90

This SUV called the ‘09’, comes from a Chinese brand called Link & Co. Makers of the car did aim at copying just the Volvo XC90 but ended up copying a few more cars along the way. A look at the car and you will understand why we are saying so. The headlight profile of the car looks inspired by Porsche Macan. On the side, the car looks heavily inspired by the Range Rover Vogue. The rear looks inspired by Hyundai Santa Fe.

Specifications

Volvo XC90 is built on a platform called the SPA platform. This platform caters to the premium needs of cars like the XC90. This is the same platform that underpins the 09 as well. However, the biggest piece of news here is that the Made-in-China XC90 makes more power than the original XC90 and that too at half the price. The 09 is expected to come powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that will come coupled with mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and hybrid technologies. The power figures will start from 252bhp and go up to 431bhp in some configurations. For reference, the Volvo XC90 currently available in India makes 232bhp.

Lynk & Co and Volvo are subsidiaries of the Geely Group, one of China’s largest automakers. This is the reason why Lynk & Co and Volvo share the same SPA platform. Also, both the cars share a lot of parts as well. Geely Group acquired Volvo from Ford back in 2010.

Pricing
