The all-new Vitara was showcased to the world earlier this year and now, Suzuki fans shall be treated to a hotter, more powerful version of the car. The ‘Vitara S’ as it is called, gets a lot of goodies in comparison to the regular, plain-jane variant. There’s seventeen-inch alloys and the grille up front is a different design. The wing-mirrors are painted in contrast silver. The LED headlamps while the side moulding kit is an all-black affair.

Red features on the inside of the Vitara S as well. The air-conditioning vent surrounds are finished in red, while the instrumentation console get red accent. The upholstery finished in leather gets red contrast stitching while the car gets sporty aluminium pedals as well.

But the party trick is the all-new ‘Boosterjet’ petrol engine under the Vitara S’ hood. A 1.4 litre direct injection unit, the turbocharged mill makes 138 bhp and 22o Nm torque. This small-capacity, high torque nature means that the Vitara S should bring out the hoonigan in you. Suzuki have developed a special turbocharger with about 16 psi and attached it directly to the head. The wastegate valve on the turbo is of a dual nature, that stays closed to keep boost loads high on high throttle runs. On the other hand, it stays open during regular operations to ensure maximize fuel efficiency gains. They even routed the exhaust manifold into the head – all in a bid to keep turbo lag down to a minimum.

The Suzuki Vitara S gets a manual as well as automatic transmission options, with both units being six speed affairs. The race from standstill to 100 km/h takes a shade over ten seconds with a top speed that’s well in excess of 200 km/h. Power is laid down to all four wheels thanks to Suzuki’s ALLGRIP AWD system and drivers can switch between Auto, Lock, Sport & Snow modes depending on the conditions around them.

Thanks to the special ‘Turbojet’ turbocharged petrol and its advanced construction techniques, the Suzuki Vitara S returns a combined fuel consumption figure (claimed) of over 18.5 km/l. Stellar stuff given the bagfuls of performance available to the driver.
