Hyundai Creta is a car that is talked about a lot in the Indian car market. This car has made it very difficult for competitors to take the lead in the C-SUV segment. With a benchmark already set by Creta, competitors try to bring something fresh that can take the buyers’ eyes off Creta. Now, with almost all major brand already in the race or prepared to enter the race pretty soon, Maruti also has its eyes set upon the C-SUV segment. In today’s article, we will discuss the upcoming Maruti Creta competition SUV and try to understand Maruti’s strategy regarding it.
Maruti, under its JV, has already shared two products with Toyota, namely the Baleno (Toyota Glanza) and Vitara Brezza (Toyota Urban Cruiser). Recently, a Toyota WagonR EV was also spotted indicating that the brands are looking forward to EVs. We mostly expect Toyota to source the battery pack since the brand has been in this space for quite some time now in the global market. Also, the Toyota WagonR could possibly be the first product that Toyota might launch before Maruti. Coming back to the Maruti Creta competition, the product will mostly be shared by both brands. Both the brands will be giving their unique touches to the product. With Maruti focusing on the affordable side, Toyota will market it as a premium vehicle.
We were earlier expecting Maruti to bring the Vitara to India to compete with the Hyundai Creta, but both the brands (Maruti and Toyota) need a product that is specific to India. This is the same reason behind brands like Skoda bringing an India-specific car, the Kushaq to compete against the Creta. Also, Maruti has seen great success with the Vitara Brezza, a car that was specifically made for the customers here that wanted an affordable SUV. We now believe that the car built out of this JV would prove to be a better case when compared to the Vitara, keeping in mind the Indian perspective. So will we this car on a Toyota TNGA platform? We will have to wait and find out.
