Scramblers appear to be the flavour of the season and how! Following a slew of announcements from the likes of Benelli, Ducati, and others, it was only a matter of time before someone else too hitched their wagon to the train. Well, this time, it is Kawasaki that is creating some buzz.

There is talk going around that the Japanese manufacturer will be in the market with a small-engine Scrambler of their own.

If rumours are to be believed, Kawasaki might go as low as 150cc on the engine front, opting for a single cylinder, air-cooled affair. If true, then this is clearly bound to shake up the market even further than what the Ducati Sixty2 and Benelli have managed so far. Power figures being talked about are around the 17-20 bhp mark, with a six-speed gearbox to wrap things up.

Styling wise, Kawasaki would look to play on the retro-modern trend that is witnessing a revival on the motorcycle scene.

Some are calling it the post-EICMA Milan effect, while others are adopting a wait-and-watch policy to this development. It will be interesting to see just how this one plays out. Whether the said Kawasaki model shall indeed dazzle us in all its metal, rubber and plastic glory or, it turns out to be a figment of someone’s hyperactive imagination. All we can share at this moment is a drawing. So we’ll just have to wait and see.
