Next-gen Mahindra XUV500 is one of the most awaited launches in the country as of now. The car has created quite a stir in the automotive market with expected features like ADAS and single-piece displays for touchscreen infotainment system & instrument cluster. There was, however, confusion regarding the launch of this car. It was not becoming clear which product will launch first, the XUV500 or the Scorpio. The air of confusion has now been cleared. When is it launching?

We had earlier reported to you that the whole automotive industry is facing shortage of a very crucial component; semiconductors. This shortage was expected to directly affect the launch of the new XUV500, since a semiconductor is used in the mostly all the electronics in a car. However, the launching of this car has now been confirmed for somewhere between Q2 and Q3 this year. Also, the launch of Scorpio has been confirmed to take place after the XUV500 is launched.

What to expect on the next-gen XUV500?

The upcoming XUV500 is speculated to come with a powerful 2.2-Litre m-hawk Diesel Engine capable of producing 185bhp. A 2.0-Litre m-Stallion Turbo-Petrol is also expected on the XUV500, the same which is expected to be present on the petrol-powered Thar as well. It could produce somewhere around 190bhp. The upcoming XUV500 is expected to be offered as an All-Wheel-Drive, along with a differential lock on offer, to take the XUV500 for some serious off-roading.

On the design front, it is expected to get newly designed sharp-looking LED DRL’s. Also, 18-inch tyres from the current XUV500 might continue, although with newly designed alloy wheels to match with the new looks. Coming to the interiors, we expect to see highly improved interiors in comparison to what the current-gen XUV500 offers. The upcoming XUV500 is also expected to come with multiple advanced safety features which might help the XUV500 take a lead in its price bracket. Some of the expected features include Lane Assist, park assist, engine start-stop, sunroof and connected car tech. Electronic handbrake is also expected on higher trims with the lower trims expected to get mechanical handbrake.
