BMW is all set to launch their latest Sports Activity Coupe, the X4 M40i at the Detroit Motor Show, to be held in January, next year. Meanwhile, the exciting new machine has been spotted doing the rounds in South Carolina, where BMW has their production plant in Spartanburg. Finished in a beautiful Long Beach Blue shade, the X4 M40i is in production ready guise.

The twin air-intakes at the front as well as the wing mirrors are finished in Ferric Grey accents. The X4 M40i also comes shod with exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in a double-spoke design that is said to add a dynamic edge to the looks. Ultra High Performance tires complete the package. Also premiering along with the X4 M40i is an all-new TwinPower Turbo petrol motor in an inline six-cylinder configuration. This newly developed 3.0 litre motor has been given the full M-treatment and now develops a potent 355 bhp and 465 Nm torque.

The new X4 M40i posts a sub-five second time in its race from zero to 100 kmph. These kind of performance figures give it a six-tenths of a second’s advantage in an outright acceleration drag over the factory-spec X4 XDrive 35i. The car has been electronically limited to a top speed of 250 kilometres per hour. The new X4 M40i is scheduled to go on sale in February, 2016.
