Indian car companies are enjoying a great time in the home country when it comes to market penetration, especially Maruti Suzuki. The cars from Indian brands viz. Tata Motors, Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki share roads with other cars in India as well as in foreign countries. In this article, we will discuss Indian cars that are sold abroad.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors exports its cars to various countries. Exporting helps Tata increase its sales as well as allow better penetration in the foreign market. Some are current models whereas some are models that have been discontinued here but are still in demand outside. Tata used to export cars like Indica, Vista, Indigo, Indica Marina, Manza, Aria, Nano and Sumo Grande. Cars like the old Safari and Hexa have also served as police and army vehicles in some foreign countries.

Currently, Tata Motors exports cars like Harrier, Tigor, Xenon, NRG, Tiago, Hexa and Nexon to foreign markets. Astonishingly, Tata Indigo eCS is still exported to countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka long after being discontinued here.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki has a strong presence in India as well as many foreign markets. The brand exports vehicles mainly to South & Central America, Asia, Europe, Africa along with many others. Maruti Suzuki has been exporting cars to more than 100 countries and last month crossed the 2 million mark in exports. MSIL exported cars like Gypsy, Versa, A-star and Ritz in the past. The brand currently exports cars like Alto, Swift, Vitara Brezza, Baleno, Jimny, S-Presso, Dzire, Ignis, S-Cross, Ciaz, Ertiga and Wagon R to various foreign countries.

Mahindra

Mahindra also has had quite a good presence when it comes to foreign markets. Mahindra cars are famous for their sturdiness not just in India, but also in foreign markets. Cars like Scorpio, Scorpio Getaway, Enforcer and XUV500 are used as police cars in some countries. Also, Mahindra’s first EV, the REVAi was exported to 26 countries including the UK. Cars like XUV300, previous-gen Thar, TUV300, KUV100 and KUV100 NXT have also been exported or are still imported in many countries.
