Mahindra Scorpio was previously used for Army and was called as the Rakshak plus. We have come across some spy shots of the current generation Mahindra Scorpio being tested for army. Here is a complete detailed report on the Mahindra Scorpio Army spec.
The Mahindra Scorpio Army that you see in the image below has a clear sticker that says army trial. Also you can see the smaller window panels with bullet proof windows on them.
We assume that the older generation Scorpio could be put used for Army. The GS800 which is the Tata Safari is another such example like the Mahindra Scorpio. The Mahindra Scorpio could also be a 4WD vehicle as the S11 variant of the vehicle provides 4WD facility.
For Army the vehicle will be tuned differently and it might also have some extra reinforcements which add to the ruggedness to bear the harsh condition of army operations.
The Rakshak plus was shown at the Defence Expo in 2012. It has been almost a decade but we still expect a few basic feature to remain the same.
To protect the internals of the vehicle, it might get front and back protection plates. There will be 5 firing ports along including the rear door. The fuel tank is also made of fire suppression material. This Scoprio is also expected to have run-flat tyres. The car not only should get 360 degree camera but also telescopic camera.
Apart from the above spotted Scorpio a new generation of the Scorpio is under development. This new generation car is expected to be longer and spacious. As of now Mahindra has not announced the launch date of this new generation Scorpio.
Also there have been rumors about the name to change to Scorpion Sting. Mahindra might also unveil their new logo with the launch of the Scorpio and XUV500.
