The upcoming entry-level hatchback from Nissan – Datsun RediGo has been spied testing.

This is the first time that the Redigo has been caught on camera.

The RediGO proportions seem similar to its concept car with less aggressive lines. The tail lamps also are similar, with a ‘jetting-out’ styling. The window line is also stooping towards the front end and rising sharply towards the rear. There is a deep groove on the boot which is hidden in the camouflage.

The RediGO is based on the CMF-A platform, which also underpins the Renault Kwid. The CMF-A platform is an all-new platform jointly developed by Renault and Nissan and will be used for future products under both these brands. The RediGO has been designed from scratch and will be made to suit Indian customers.

It has a tall stance and a high ground clearance. It will be a modern affordable entry-level hatchback that is expected to be stylish, spacious and even features loaded. The car will have a newly styled interior, which will be different from the Kwid.

The hatchback will feature a three-cylinder 800cc (B4A) engine that will produce about 52bhp of power and will come with a five-speed manual and mostly even an AMT (automated manual transmission), at a later stage. There won’t any diesel engines on offer on the RediGO.

The Datsun RediGO is expected to be launched in 2016 and will be competing with the Maruti Alto, Hyundai, Eon, Tata Nano and Renault Kwid. It is expected to be priced below the Kwid and will make its debut by mid-2016.
