Hyundai revealed earlier this month that they will introduce a new intelligent manual transmission (iMT) with Venue, its sub-4 meter SUV. Today Hyundai has officially launched the new car and becomes the first in India with this transmission. Find everything below about Hyundai iMT officially launched details.
The only basic thing you need to remember is that iMT is a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. There are gears which you can manually shift in the car. But there are only two pedals available for use: Accelerator and Brake. iMT sits between a traditional manual transmission and AMT transmission.
Hyundai has also launched a new Sport trim on the Venue. Venue iMT is on offer only with the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

Hyundai and Kia’s iMT should not be mixed with the iMT available with Toyota cars. Both are completely different technologies compared to each other. iMT is also not like proper automatic transmissions like CVT or DSG.
As mentioned above, iMT falls between a traditional manual transmission and AMT transmission. As a result, its price falls between both these transmission options. AMT may cost Rs.30, 000-60,000. As seen above Hyundai’s iMT transmission costs about Rs.20,000 more than traditional manual transmission.
